Linked In ... to what?

After splashing cold water on Twitter with a couple of cartoon satires, Current TV has turned its attention to another Web 2.0 phenomenon - LinkedIn.
LinkedIn, a social networking site for professionals, is a tougher target than microblogging service Twitter.
Like its Twitter satires, Current's LinkedIn satire tries to say "the emperor has no clothes." It challenges the usefulness of the site, including the belief that LinkedIn helps people find jobs.
I'm not sure about that claim either. But personally I use LinkedIn as a digital Rolodex to keep track of sources and their current jobs and titles.

Microsoft Store breaks into song and dance

Microsoft so badly wants to be cool like Apple, but fails miserably.
Here the employees at Microsoft's new retail store in Mission Viejo, Calif., start a line dance to the music of the Black Eyed Peas.
Brad Slavin, who posted the video to YouTube, saw the singing and dancing as a good thing. "This is an amazing store, the employees seem really excited and engaged, almost happy to be at work," he wrote. (See his YouTube post here and his blog post here.)
Engadget saw only downside. "Why is it that whenever Microsoft tries to have a little 'fun' it comes across as creepy or overly controlled?" Thomas Ricker wrote on Engadget.
A poll on the Huffington Post finds that 67% of viewers find the Microsoft Store dance "cringeworthy," followed by 25% "cute" and 8% "crazy."

Twitter Tells Users To Go Screw Themselves

Comedy.com has made a video slamming Twitter as arrogant for not fixing such persistent problems as system failures and trending topics filled with spam.
Twitter is taking flak from all sides now.
ComScore reported this week that the number of U.S. visitors to the microblogging service fell for the first time ever on a month-over-month basis in October. See story at TechCrunch.

'2012' trailer without special effects

Some clever person edited the special effects out of the trailer for the disaster movie "2012." What's left is mostly actors responding to imaginary things -- special effects to be added in post-production. It's pretty funny.

Beer pong conquers America

Judging from this promo for the World Series of Beer Pong V, you'd think this sport was the next Super Bowl. You know, modern gladiators training for years for their moment in the spotlight to show their skills. All played with tense music and a deep-voiced narrator describing the incredible stakes. But this is beer pong, the popular college drinking game.

U-Create Music television commercial

I've seen this commercial a lot recently during children's television shows on cable that my kids are watching. It's a device from Mattel's Radica Games unit called U-Create Music, aimed at 8 to 14 year olds. It might be a cool gadget, but the ads are super dorky.
The kid in the commercial uses the device to entertain a house party with all of his friends. The game is like "DJ Hero" for the middle school crowd.
